Established in 1996 by a group of Toora residents and the Toora Progress Association, the Toora Heritage Pear Orchard
contains 110 trees of over 50 varieties.
Located in Mill St, Toora on Sth Gippsland Shire land, the orchard is managed by The Friends of the Toora Heritage Pear Orchard.
As well as holding regular working bees we have an annual grafting day where participants can learn from experts and go home with new trees to plant.
Regular pruning days are held over winter where members can learn to prune and then practise their new skills.
Every March we hold our annual Pear Party. A celebration of all things pear.
Come and join us on Sunday March 13 2016.
Check out our Facebook page.
Come to the orchard and pick your own pears. February to April is the best time. Bags and an honesty box are on the old Cypress stump just over the bridge at the orchard.
Our pears are now used by Lucinda Estate in Leongatha to make Gippsland Cider. It's a lovely drop. Get some from The Meeniyan Store.
We recently added a behive in the orchard and will be collecting our first Toora Honey in February 2014. Try some at the Pear Party!
"There are only ten minutes in the life of a pear when it is perfect to eat."
Each year we celebrate our community orchard by having a party.
Please come along.
A short film of collected images and video from the wonderful Toora Pear Party 2013.
Much fun was had with plenty of pears, a pinata, musicians, leprechauns, storeholders, talks and much more.
A perfect day for the whole community.
Thanks to everyone that made it such a great day.
See you in 2016!
Make sure the sound is on. The video is set to music by Toora's own 'The Pegs'.
